Welcome! If you have got this far then you're probably interested in health and well being, and in complementary approaches. You may already be familiar with herbal medicine and may have consulted a Medical Herbalist before. You may be looking for answers for your own health or for a loved one – do take a look and see what modern herbal medicine can offer. Plants as medicine The traditional medicine of our ancestors was taken from their surroundings – the fields and gardens where they lived and worked. Our own surroundings may have changed but those traditional medicines are still all around us – we've just forgotten how to look – or we hurry by too fast to notice.
Take a fresh look at the roadsides, parks and gardens where we live – many of the plants that we call wild flowers or even weeds were the daily medicines of our ancestors, and still have a role in our health and well being today. Modern herbal medicine involves a therapeutic relationship between the herbalist and the patient, and as such will benefit anyone. The consultation, diet and lifestyle evaluation and advice, and medicinal herbs, if prescribed, all contribute to the process of restoring health and well-being I consider my approach holistic – by which I mean that I believe body, soul and spirit are all relevant to a healthy life. I also prefer to describe herbal medicine as a complementary therapy, rather than alternative – I believe that modern medicine and traditional medicine can work together and complement one another – so you the patient can benefit from the best of both worlds
